Changes to the Immigration Rules

On 22 October, the Government announced changes to the Immigration Rules: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/statement-of-changes-to-the-immigration-rules-hc-813-22-october-2020

There will be four new immigration routes:

  • Hong Kong British National (Overseas)
  • Skilled Worker
  • S2 Healthcare Visitor
  • Service Providers from Switzerland

There will also be changes to the existing Immigration Rules under the following headings:

  • Suitability requirements
  • Afghan Interpreter
  • EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)
  • Visitors
  • Short-term Study
  • Students
  • Parent of a Child Student
  • Intra-Company Transfer
  • Global Talent
  • Other work routes
  • Validity requirements
  • English language, finance and Knowledge of Life in the UK requirements
  • Administrative review
  • Sham Marriage Scheme and marriage visit visas
  • Appendix FM for family applications
  • Turkish ECAA applications

Most changes will take effect on 1 December 2020. The new visa category for British Nationals (Overseas) will start from 31 January 2021.
